Brown Ends Tuition for Lower-Income Students

Bridging the gap...one Ivy League University at a time. However, if your family makes 101,000 dollars a year, it looks like your parents have to shell out half that for your tuition. In Australia, higher education is paid for by the government, and as soon as you start making 30,000 dollars a year, you must start paying them back. if you never make 30 grand in a year, you never pay for college. The loophole of course is to travel abroad and make your money there, never filing tax returns in Aussie, never notifying the government that you've been making enough money to help pay for YOUR education. It seems to be a little bit immoral and unproductive, considering the money has to come from somewhere and if nobody ever pays them back, the money would eventually run out. However, who knows how i would handle a situation like that, but either way, a good idea in theory (the pre-paid education, that is...)

they do this in england too. low intrest rates on student loans that don't take effect until a minimum income is met. you can even get loans to help cover living expences while studying at the same rates.
plus if you make it to 45ish without earning the minimun, you dont have to pay EVER.

everyone should have a chance to learn, equil access.

mmm hmm. England has some shit down. There is a statistic i heard last year that says that countries colonized by UK have significantly better chance of becoming a democratic nation...just interesting, makes sense
