what a GREAT article

"Thiel is also on the board of advisers of something called the Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence. From its fantastical website, the following: "The Singularity is the technological creation of smarter-than-human intelligence. There are several technologies ... heading in this direction ... Artificial Intelligence ... direct brain-computer interfaces ... genetic engineering ... different technologies which, if they reached a threshold level of sophistication, would enable the creation of smarter-than-human intelligence.""

What will they do when they realize that the true singularity is within all things, that the smarter-than-human intelligence they are searching for is called EVOLUTION?

The fact that Thiel's ideas flourish and garner respect and praise is exactly what is wrong with our system. As humans begin to realize that there is more than the bottom line, good losers will become the contented.

not weird: very sketch

by looking at facebook we can see, through this article, the very backbone of neo-con theory. complete with no borders, no taxes, sheep-like populace and mans ability to crush nature. great piece...

one note phil...i decided to ask my teacher about this one...he's not totally a neo-con while he has sort of mixed libertarian and neo-con ideas....

something i have learned is that for many of the most powerful people in the world "multiculturalism" is a hoax...this guy wrote a book about how the "multiculturalist" culture of Stanford hindered people's educations....that's just a microcosm of a macrocosm, which I think for these people would include something like the nomination of a black man or woman for president of the united states

my point i guess, is when I talked to my teacher he wondered why the author was so quick to throw out neo con, and when I asked why...he responded

"The term has become virtually meaningless. Irving Kristol, Norman Podhoretz, and a few others were "neocons," i.e., they had been Marxists and,in the late 60's, were persuaded to give two cheers for capitalism. Now virtually anyone who is an old school capitalist or in some other way conservative, and not part of the religious right is called a neocon."

And if you look up Irving Kristol (father of William Kristol who is adviser to Bush and McCain and now an Op-Ed in the NYT) he writes a pretty good article about neo-con...communism wasn't going to work i guess in the way marx thought...but it can still work with a different face i guess? i don't know...my teacher went on to say he also despised facebook though

i thought it was a great article too and right after i saw that a new one popped up in the nyt which i posted....this is too fun, i hope everyone's having fun
